Paper Description

Edit Paper Description Content

The purpose of this paper is to show the integration between operations and supply chain management in achieving customer satisfaction and business competitiveness. The process of logistics and operations applies to product, production and to service industries. The purpose is to convey some of the methods for optimising locations for operations. Throughput capacity and skills required to operate the business will be conveyed. Participants will consider how the paper also focuses on quality issues and current imperatives such as lean manufacture and Six Sigma.

Information is the key to good management. Timely information from customers, the environment and within the business impacts on: inventory; just in time delivery; and full order fulfilment. Planning systems for resources will be considered as well as project management for integration of innovations and improvements for increased effectiveness and efficiency.
